Writing Collaborative and Colloquium for
Encountering Women of Faith, Volume 3
SCV's programs are designed to inspire further healthy spiritual and educational conversation, study and action across the Orthodox Church on various important contemporary issues related to Divine Compassion and the Ministry of Women and Men.
Continuing on the journey and enthusiasm received from our previous books, Encountering Women of Faith, Volumes I and II. Volume One was first published in 2005 and reprinted in 2010. Volume Two was published in 2011.
We are currently assembling, praying and writing Encountering Women of Faith, Volume 3with women and men authors. We are seeking sponsors to help us underwrite the cost of our writing our next book.
SCV has invited a special group of Orthodox women theologians to partner with other experienced ordained and lay servant-leaders to study the lives of various women saints through history with particular attention paid to issues regarding healing, authority and the ministries of women. In June 2015, the authors will be gathering for the collaborative Writing Colloquium for the new volume. Metropolitan Kallistos (Ware) of Diokleia has graciously accepted to join us to help us take our work to a new level of encounter. Holy Cross Orthodox Press will publish this book. This six-month process entails the Writing Colloquium and other smaller meetings and related events. Authors and collaborators generously offer their talents pro bono; nevertheless, travel and administrative costs are accumulating for this valuable endeavor.
Dissemination and Impact
Holy Cross Orthodox Press, the publishing arm of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology has already awarded us the contract for Encountering Women of Faith, Volume III.We anticipate publicizing the June 2015 SCV Writing Colloquium. The resulting SCV book to be submitted for publication will be promoted through the auspices of accredited Orthodox seminaries in North America, the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America Department of Religious Education, other Orthodox jurisdictions’ educational resources, other church-based organizations as well as through the resources of Saint Catherine’ Vision.
We believe strongly that men and women in the English speaking world will be edified by learning and sharing more about the rich depth and breath of our spiritual tradition, as these especially relate to the saints of God, as “God is wondrous among His Saints”.
By partnering with us, your special gift will be acknowledged in the book, Encountering Women of Faith, Volume III as a benefactor. We appreciate your prayers for the fruitful compilation of this new volume.
