This report was written by invitation of the dean and submitted to the faculty of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, 1981.
This was one workshop which took place June 1980 during a conference on ministry of women in the Church at St. Vladimir's Seminary in Crestwood, NY. The keynote address was offered by then Metropolitan Bishop Maximos of Pittsburgh who spoke on this theme. Kyriaki FitzGerald, who had just graduated Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, spoke on and led the discussion regarding the ordination of women to the diaconate.
This paper was delivered in 1997 during an International Conference on Theological Education sponsored by the World Council of Churches Department of Theological Education in Oslo, Norway. Dr. Kyriaki FitzGerald served as a presenter and facilitator.
